IMPORTANT GUIDELINES FOR YOUR ORAL PRESENTATIONS

ALLOTTED TIME

The time allotted for each presentation is limited to 12-13 minutes.

In most sessions, 15 minutes of more general thematic discussions are foreseen, during which you will be able to discuss complementary or common points to the different communications, or else of more general nature.

Attention! To ensure the smooth running of the session, it is essential that speakers keep to the scheduled time: You may like to rehearse your presentation with slides in advance to ensure your presentation fits within the allotted time! The Chairman of the session will not let you speak after your allocated time.

LANGUAGES

The seminar is bilingual French/English. All presentations have to be done in one of these two languages. In order to offer an efficient and qualitative simultaneous translation, we kindly ask you to speak clearly and not too fast.

POWERPOINT PRESENTATION 

FORMAT OF THE PRESENTATIONS

Do not prepare too many supports. In order to guarantee a clear presentation that can easily be followed by the public:

  • Focus your presentation on the conclusions, learned lessons and recommendations.
  • To gain time, mention the acknowledgements at the end of the presentation on one single slide.
  • Use a simple font (Arial) of sufficient font size (at least Font 20) for good readability.

For presentations created on PC, all MICROSOFT OFFICE versions till 2013 will be accepted. Presentations created on a Mac should use PowerPoint mac format. Keynote will be refused in order to avoid errors in transitions and in special effects.

GUIDELINES ON PRESENTATION FORMATS:

  • Please prepare your presentation in advance using Office - Power Point.
  • The chosen broadcast format of the seminar is 16:9. Make sure your PowerPoint presentation is designed in 16:9 ratio and not in 4:3. For your slides, please use the Seminar PPT Template in 16:9 that can be downloaded here.
  • Images should be included in .jpg format (.pict is forbidden).
  • If applicable, video files in the presentations should be in .wmv format. It is imperative that the source files of these videos are provided in addition to the presentations.
  • For presentations on Mac, please export them on PC and check the policy (if specific). Do not forget to take your codecs if necessary.
  • Save your files under .ppt, .pps or .pptx and the name of the file should mention the name of the speaker and the date of the presentation.

 

SEND US YOUR POWERPOINT PRESENTATION PRIOR TO THE SEMINAR

We strongly recommend, in order to win time and when possible, to send us your PowerPoint presentation to terraeducation2018@gmail.com before Friday, June 1st, 2018.

IN THE CONFERENCE ROOM

A computer will be installed on the reading desk and the speaker will open and lead himself his presentation. The presentations that have been sent to us before the seminar will be accessible in a file on the computer. If you did not succeed in sending us your presentation before the beginning of the seminar, we will connect a USB key with your presentation on our computer.

We kindly ask you not to arrive at the last minute with your personal computer to the conference room: we will not be able to connect it and your presentation will be cancelled.
